Pip Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10/14/2026

Pip helps people ask for everyday help from a small circle of people they trust. Pip is operated by Kyle Brintnall ("we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we never do.

The short version

We collect only what it takes to match an ask: what someone needs, when, and where. No location tracking. Nothing sold. Nothing shared except what a helper needs to show up.

What we collect

From people who use the Pip app: name, email address, mobile number, home address, the life events you choose during setup (for example a new baby or a move), saved places (for example a grocery store or pharmacy), and the requests you create. Your home address is shared only with a helper who has accepted a request that involves your home, so they can find you even if they've never been there.

From helpers who join someone's circle: first name, mobile number, a profile photo (shown only to the person who invited you), zip code, an optional street address, the kinds of help you're comfortable with, the days and times you're usually free, and your answers to requests.

Basic technical data needed to run the service, such as error logs.

What we don't collect

We do not track your location. We do not read your text messages, contacts, or calendar.

How we use it

To match a request with the right helper, send that helper the request, show the person asking who said yes, and keep the service secure and working. Zip codes are used only to estimate distance and travel time. Your home address is used only to give an accepted helper directions and to estimate distance to your helpers. It's never shown to a helper before they accept.

What helpers and users can see

A helper sees only what they need for a request they've been asked: the first name of the person asking, the task, the time, and the place name. The address and notes are shared only after the helper says yes. Helpers never see other helpers or who said no. People asking never see who said no.

Who we share data with

We share data only with service providers that help us run Pip, and only as needed: our hosting provider, our text messaging provider (Twilio), and an AI provider (Anthropic) that helps read requests typed in plain language. If you describe your situation during setup, our AI provider reads it to suggest your choices. Only a short summary and your choices are kept; your original words are discarded. These providers may not use your data for their own purposes.

We never sell your personal information. We never share mobile numbers or text messaging opt-in consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Text messages

If you agree to receive texts from Pip, see our SMS Terms at heypip.help/sms-terms. You can stop texts anytime by replying STOP.

Keeping and deleting data

We keep your data only while your account is active. You can delete your account anytime in Settings > Account > Delete account. Your profile, circle, places, and requests are removed right away, and your helpers stop receiving requests from you.

Helpers can leave a circle anytime from the link in any Pip text, or by replying STOP. To remove your helper information entirely, tap "Remove my info" on any request page.

We keep only a minimal record of text message consent and opt-outs, which carriers require, and nothing else. Questions? Email [email protected].

Security

We protect your information with encrypted connections and secure storage. Accounts are protected with a password, stored only in scrambled form we can't read. New devices are confirmed with a code sent to your email, and you can turn on two-step sign-in with an authenticator app or use quick sign-in with your device's fingerprint, face, or screen lock. Sensitive actions, like deleting your account or changing your phone number, require you to verify it's you. Helpers never need an account; each request link is unique to them and stops working once the request moves on. No system is perfectly secure, but we only collect what we need, which keeps what's at risk small.

Children

Pip is not for people under 18.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for meaningful changes, let you know.
